Probably you are right and they expect
Content-Type: text/plain
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
(maybe text/html and other encodings are also accepted)
Your content-type is not "text" while Richard Jones' messages do not contain
Content-Transfer-Encoding so both are rejected.
