I think cc nowadays is a link to the default compiler of the system.
On a Mac that is LLVM and on Linux distributions, mine at least, GCC.
So it's a neat way to call a C compiler, instead of hard-coding GCC.
Using configure scripts works fine too.
So is GCC really forced anywhere or not?
