Subject: [Caml-list] Why does ocaml use custom buffering?
Date: Mon, 23 Aug 2004 14:25:44 +0200	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <4129E248.3090607@cs.uu.nl> (raw)
In-Reply-To: <200408231049.59342.jon@jdh30.plus.com>

I was wondering why the OCaml runtime implements its
own buffering on channel operations (in "byterun/io.c")
instead of using the standard "FILE*" operations in C?

Is there a particular reason (like performance), or is
it just an historic artifact?

All the best,
  Daan.
