Yes, but that doesn't change the fact 99% of PCs out there still have a
single core CPU. Besides, adding more cores on the chip is backward
compatible, it isn't the quite same thing as changing the CPU
architecture.

I think the migration from 64-bit to 128-bit architecture will take more
than 20 years. But such things are generally very hard to predict.
