Race Report :
Airborne’s Phil Noble, 2004 Ohio State Cyclo-Cross Champion
Last month, the USCF Ohio State Championships were held at Harbin Park in Cincinnati Ohio where Airborne’s own Phil “the Mayor” Noble pulled off another winning performance. It was a tough race from the start as Mike House of Sharper Image/Mathis Bros. and Noble pushed the pace making a select group including two other riders off the front. A mix of rain from the previous day along with a full day of racing made for a chewed up course with run-ups that were becoming worse as the race went on. With this in mind, Noble attacked off the front of the breakaway leaving the other riders behind to fight it out for second. Noble went on to take the days win and the State Championship by 50 seconds over House.

Tech Tip:
Proper helmet usage
The helmet must fit snugly on you head, this can be adjusted by adding, moving the padded inserts. When adjusting the chin strap it should rest firmly against the throat with the buckle fastened securely. Never wear a helmet that has been involved in an accident, even if damage is not visible. Cracks can occur internally that will weaken the helmet. Most helmet manufactures offer crash replacement discounts for such occurrences. Use only soap and water to clean your helmet, chemicals can cause the material used to protect you in an accident to breakdown and weaken.

Although most safety education focuses on children, adult cyclist account for almost 70% of all bicycle related deaths.
