RACE
REPORT
Jim Turner of the Webcor/Alto Velo cycling team scored a 5th place finish on
his Airborne X-1 in the Master's National Time Trial Championships held in Park
City Utah earlier this year. Jim said he was very delighted with his result and
can't wait for next year. Earlier in the year Jim finished 2nd in the 65 to 69
age group at the district time trial championship in Sattley CA. Way to go Jim! |

TIP: Bottom Bracket Maintenance
Once or twice
a year it is always a good idea to pull out your bottom bracket
to clean out the bottom bracket shell. Since winter
is approaching and you are probably spending more time watching videos
of guys riding bikes than riding the bike yourself, now would be
a good time for this. Once the bottom bracket has been removed,
grab a cloth or rag, wipe out as much of the grit and grime as possible
that has collected inside. Most of all make sure that the threads
are clear of any bits of sand and grit. Once the shell has
been completely cleaned, apply grease to the threads on both sides. We
use Teflon-Fortified Grease from Finish Line for this application. Then
we take one extra step. We wrap the threads of the bottom bracket
itself three to four times on each side with Teflon tape. This
combination will reduce any occurrences of the dreaded bottom bracket
creak and will help keep grit and grim from getting into the bottom
bracket shell.
